Focusing Your VISION |
|
Many of us are visual in nature. That simply means we learn more from the visual than from the listening. Here are some tips to help each of us Focus Your Vision...
V
VIVID - Your visions should be so real you can touch them, and write them down. Live as if what will be already is! Have you tried using a "Dream Board" for a tremendous visual impact?
INSIGHTFUL- Change happens when you have a need...either active or passive. (Have to change for health reasons, or need to change because you just desire more) S
STRUCTURED- Vision must be put on paper...it is virtually worthless if it is not. Something happens when you write it down; your visions become more concrete. Be sure to set roadmap checkpoints for yourself. I
INTENSE- You cannot have a "half-hearted" vision. Develop a positive, beautiful vision of your life, or don't do it at all. As Pat Riley said; "You're either in or you're out, there is no in between!"
O
ONGOING- Persistence and determination are the keys. Edison failed miserably many times before he succeeded.
N
NECCESSARY- Change is inevitable...growth is optional. Jim Rohn says," The good stuff in life they keep on the top shelf. To reach it you must stand on the books you have read." Remember that this is one the attributes that separate the pro from the average!
Motivation- You must be creating your dream or vision for the right purpose. Zig Ziglar said "If you help enough other people get what they want, you will get what you want!"

Humbling Beyond Words |
|
I feel compelled to tell this very personal story because of how humbling it was for me. Please read on...
On Friday, November 7, 2008, I was privileged to co-sponsor a table at the Houston West Chamber of Commerce's (www.hwcoc.org) Salute to Veterans luncheon. As a USAF veteran, I was very anxious to experience the camaraderie of the attendees getting together to honor those who have served in America's military forces, especially those from WW II.
At the table was 4 USN veterans; three from WW II and one from the Viet Nam era.
One of these USN vets from WW II was George McGrath. George is only 1 of the remaining 15 Navy vets from WW II who served on the Battleship Texas. Yes...this is the same USS Texas that was first commissioned in WW I and now sits anchored at San Jacinto Battlefield. George was also the same one that was profiled in a recent Houston Chronicle feature article at the Battleship Texas Reunion.
As George tells his story of his boiler room job on the Battleship Texas, he also shared some of the stories of where he sailed on the ship. As I eagerly listened to him, I could feel a giant lump in my throat appear and eyes begin to water.
IF anyone ever doubts the sacrifice of all The Greatest Generation veterans, you need only talk to one of these gentle heroes and listen to their stories. It was the most humbling experience I have had in many, many years.

Here is my personal start:

I AM GLAD YOU ASKED... |

How do you control mosquitoes?
The best way of getting rid of mosquitoes is Listerine, the original medicinal type. The Dollar Store-type works, too. The story is of a person that was attending a deck party and the bugs were biting everyone. A superman at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared. The next day I filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around whenever I saw mosquitoes. And viola! It worked. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby. During the summer, I don't leave home without it...anonymous READERS COMMENTS: I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it is a big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes.
So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames, and even inside the dog house if you have one. |

Realy Great Rules To Live By |
By applying these simple rules, life will sooooo much easier.
If you sleep on it, make it up
If you wear it, hang it up
If you drop it, pick it up
If you eat out of it, wash it
If you spill it, wipe it up
If you turn it on, turn it off
If you open it, close it
If you move it, put it back
If you break it, repair or replace it
If you empty it, fill it
If it rings, answer it
If it howls, feed it
If it cries, love and kiss it
If your group or company needs a guest speaker, let me hear from you. I will be glad to send a listing of a dozen really great topics that I offer.
